European programs: a stimulus for the learning language

Summary

As the person in charge of the Grundtvig and Comenius actions of the Program of Permanent Learning (former Sócrates) of the European Union, in the Innovation Service of the Basque Government, I shall commence the lecture mentioning the following aims:

General aim: to stimulate exchange, cooperation and mobility among education and training systems inside the European Union, so that they become a reference of world wide quality.

Specific aims: To promote the learning of languages and the linguistic diversity as well as to reinforce permanent learning capacity to create a feeling of European citizenship, based on comprehension and respect of human rights and democracy and to promote tolerance and respect towards other peoples and other cultures.

Within this general overview, I hall set out the different possibilities that the PAP offers:

  • To take part in working groups with other European centres:
    • Multilateral Groups (Grundtvig and Comenius actions)
    • Bilateral Associations (Comenius actions)
    • Receiving a European assistant (Grundtvig and Comenius actions)
  • To take part individually in courses of continuous formation in other European countries (Grundtvig and Comenius actions), or in study visits.
  • To take part in school twinnings by means of the Internet with other European centres (etwinning)

Insisting especially on the announcements of innovations to take place in 2009.

As well as the announcement of exchanges and multilateral meetings run by the Education Department Innovation Service of the Basque Government, which also makes possible:

  • To take part in exchanges between a centre of the Basque Country and another European one.
